Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com has a feeling the Phillies may explore trading Cliff Lee to help the team’s pursuit of Roy Halladay.

- Ruben Amaro Jr. met with Lee’s agent last week to discuss a contract extension, but no news came out of it.
- Possibly trade Lee for prospects that can be used in a deal to land Halladay, and still keep a deep core of talent on the farm system.
- Jays are entertaining three- and four-team scenarios involving Halladay.
- Phillies are actively shopping Joe Blanton to ease some of the payroll concerns if they were to try and get Halladay.

More on the possibility of a blockbuster deal happening here.

First it was J.A. Haap, then Blanton, and now Cliff Lee as trade specualtion for Halladay... That just about covers the entire Philies starting rotation. When they traded for Lee the Phillies had to have an idea on what it would take financially speaking to sign him long term. I don't think they were looking to just rent a player when they made the move. So unless Lee has told them he is not happy in Philly then this will not happen. Lee seemd pretty excited to be in Philly this past season, especially in the playoffs. Philly will find a way to sign Lee long term.

Are you kidding me?!?! If Ruben does this it would be a huge mistake. If he is worried about Lee leaving after 2010 then Ruben really needs to work on locking him into a multi-year deal. Though Halladay would be awesome to get on the Phils I don't think sacrificing Lee would be worth it, unless he knows that he can't lock Lee in. I hope we get to have our cake and eat it too!!
