John Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com are reporting the Baltimore Orioles are making themselves a player in the Matt Holliday sweepstakes.
- Despite the idea that Holliday may not want to play in Baltimore, there are some reasons why he could strongly consider it.
- Team has financial flexibility to meet his needs. They were a player in the Mark Texeira chase last year, and came to an agreement to bring in lefty closer Mike Gonzalez last night, as well as former Rockies teammate Garrett Atkins.
- There is a lot of young talent on the team.
- Orioles are not afraid to spend money beyond Holliday to field a good team.
