ESPN’s Buster Olney broke the news this morning that Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay will not accept any trades once spring training begins.
Halladay has the power of a full no-trade clause built into his current deal, which expires after the 2010 season. This latest development now forces the Blue Jays to either trade Halladay before spring training, or simply keep him through next year and accept compensatory draft picks after he signs with a different team.
We fully expect Halladay to be traded this offseason. A couple of draft picks is simply not acceptable compensation for a pitcher of his caliber.
