Andy McCarron of the New York Daily News believes John Lackey’s intensity makes him an ideal pitcher to succeed in the high-pressured New York atmosphere.

Lackey has a career 3.81 ERA with a 102-71 record, but has begun each of the last two seasons on the disabled list. He made 24 starts in 2008 and 27 last season, which is under the 32 starts he averaged from 2003-2007.

More on Lackey as a possibility for either NY team here.

The Yanks were lucky to get through the World Series by using only 3 starters. It won't happen again. They need at least 1 if not 2 quality starters to repeat. The biggest reason is injuries could occur at any time. You
never have enough pitching. They should let Hughes go in a trade and let Chamberlain set up Rivera. If that happens and they get a Halladay or Lackie it's game set and match barring injuries. The Yanks know how to win. Other teams find a way to lose.
