Free agent starter Justin Duchscherer has agreed to a one-year contract with the A’s, reports the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser.
The deal, which becomes official once he passes a physical exam, is worth $2 million, but Duchscherer could earn up to $5.5 million should he reach the benchmarks of 30 starts and 200 innings.
Duchscherer, 32, missed the entire 2009 season due to shoulder and back injuries, as well as a battle with clinical depression. In 2008, he was 10-8 with a 2.54 ERA in 22 starts for the A’s.
