There’s a very strong chance that free agent Cuban national Jose Contreras will pitch in Japan in 2010, reports NPB Tracker.
The 37 year-old pitcher is presently vacationing in Japan with his family. Word is that Conteras’ son, Kevin, is looking to participate in a foreign exchange program and attend school in Japan, possibly playing baseball for Fukuoka’s Yanagawa high school. Contreras also reportedly threw for a SoftBank Hawks scout recently.
Contreras was traded to the Rockies in late August this past season, after a disappointing 21 starts (5-13, 5.42 ERA) for the White Sox.
