Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News writes that A.J. Burnett has made a case for former teammate Roy Halladay to join him with the Yankees.
Burnett and Halladay made a fearsome 1-2 combination for three years in Toronto. Now, Burnett is hoping the two can reunite in pinstripes next season.
“I think it’s time for him to get a fresh start,” said Burnett of Holliday. “He’s paid his dues there, been the face of the organization, done everything they’ve asked him to do and more. At this point in his career, I think he just wants to win.”
The window is open for Halladay to come to New York, since new Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos has said he’s willing to trade Halladay within the AL East. The rival Red Sox are also a possibility, too, though. If either one of those teams land Doc, it will be a major coups that instantly gives the winner of the Halladay sweepstakes easily the best 1-2-3 pitching combination in baseball.
