John Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com just put out his top 20 starting pitchers list for this offseason, excluding John Lackey.
Looking at the list real quick, you can see why this year’s class is one of the weakest and also one with the biggest question marks. 1/3 of the list are guys that are coming back from major injuries (Sheets, Bedard, Escobar, Myers, etc.). Pettitte isn’t leaving the Yankees, and guys like Rich Harden, Brad Penny, and Jason Marquis are classic “jeykll and hyde”-type hurlers.
Randy Wolf is looking quite attractive, and will likely secure himself a 3-year deal this offseason. Pedro Martinez can also be a surprise as long as he is not over-used.
