Tom Singer of MLB.com breaks down this offseason’s free agent outfield class, which is rich both in young stars, aging veterans, and enough potential sleepers to keep the vast majority of teams interested.
Along with the two super-studs (Bay and Holliday), Singer identifies several other options whom he considers top outfielders. Guys like Jermaine Dye, Marlon Byrd, and and Xavier Nady make his list as players who could have big impacts on the teams they land on in 2010.
And then, there are the guys who make fans cringe when their names are associated with their team’s offseason moves — Andruw Jones and Brian Giles head this list.
Indeed, there’s something for everyone in this year’s free agent outfielder crop — it’ll certainly be interesting to see who signs where when all the dust settles.
