The Mets may be in the driver’s seat as far as negotiating a deal for Randy Wolf.

A team hat signs Wolf will be forced to surrender a first-round draft pick to the Dodgers, but according to Buster Onley of ESPN.com, the Mets will not need to surrender a first-round pick, in any circumstance, because they finished with one of the worst records in 2009.

He had an impressive 2009 campaign with the Dodgers in which he was 11-7 with a 3.23 ERA. Overall, he has a career 101-85 record with a 4.13 ERA. If he can stay healthy for an entire season, he is an easy 15-win pitcher, plus he is a lefty.
