Pirates Blog, BucsDugout.com makes some great points about the team’s recent rumors around lefty-hitting free agents Rick Ankiel and Hank Blalock.
Despite the potential bargain price each player can possibly be had for, the team is already overrun by left-handed bats and would put themselves in a huge disadvantage whenever they have to face a lefty pitcher. A name that may make sense for the team is Marlon Byrd. The question is what the price might be. The Pirates have some flexibility to make some decent free agent signings.
