Marty Noble of MLB.com is putting some notes together on where he sees the Mets spending some free agent dollars this winter.
It’s funny when you look at two players he mentions, Randy Wolf and Orlando Hudson, these are two guys that the Mets passed on last year. I can see the interest in Wold, but Hudson would be unlikely since the Mets would need to part with Luis Castillo, who may actually generate some interest, but the Mets may be required to kick in and pay for some of his contract. Sad to say, but Castillo was actually one of the best performing players for the Mets last year. Yes, it was that bad a year to be a Met fan! Wolf would be a solid pick up, but they need to find a proven righty that can fill the number 2 spot in the rotation. Pelfrey is not the guy at this point for that spot.
Glaus is an interesting idea, but if there is a chance to bring Carlos Delgado back for a cheap price, then why bother with Glaus. The Mets have been down the road with Cameron and he isn’t so bad, but that would be a sign that the Mets are just looking to buy another year of mediocrity rather than going after a Jason Bay or a Matt Holliday.
