Lyle Spencer of MLB.com goes over the latest hot topics regarding the Angels and free agency.
Spencer doesn’t believe any of the big 3 free agents, John Lackey, Chone Figgins or Vladimir Guerrero will return in 2010. There was some discussion about the Angels perhaps being interested in Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford, but both players are currently not available as far as we know. The idea of a Gary Matthews Jr. for Milton Bradley trade is also mentioned as well, with the trade idea actually appearing as if it can happen
The Angels are similar to the Red Sox in which things could get ugly in a hurry if the team can not add some talent this offseason. There is too much talent perhaps leaving for the front office to just sit back.
