Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe has a quick update of the latest chatter regarding some key free agents.
The Yankees and Red Sox are still feeling out what it may take to land John Lackey, and at the same time, explore what the Blue Jays will want back for Roy Halladay in order to pull off a blockbuster move. I would bet that Halladay would be the first choice for both teams if they can negotiate a long-term deal for his services. Brewers ownership continues to say it is not entertaining any offers for Prince Fielder and do not plan on moving the all-star. John Smoltz continues to gain interest, with the Brewers the latest team heard to be interested.
