Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced Sunday night that the Phillies won’t exercise their $5.5 million option on Pedro Feliz’s contract for 2010, making Feliz a free agent.
As for where the Phillies can possibly turn, names that are being mentioned include Seattle’s Adrian Beltre, the Los Angeles Angels’ Chone Figgins, and St. Louis’ Mark DeRosa. Another possibility mentioned by Scott Lauber of PhilledIn.com, who broke the news on the Feliz situation, is former Philly Placido Polanco. They are both about the same age, but Polanco has been playing second base primarily.
