Steve Gilbert of mlblogs.com is factoring the Diamondbacks will not be a contender for free agent first baseman Nick Johnson this offseason.
With a little more than $10 million to spend and a more pressing need in the starting rotation, Gilbert believes the Diamondbacks have other pressing needs besides Nick Johnson. The Mets were one of the most recent teams rumored to have an interest in the lefty-hitting Johnson.
