AP is reporting that free agent pitcher Jose Contreras has met with officials of the Softbank Hawks of Japan’s Pacific League.
Contreras threw 50 pitches in the bullpen while being observed by Softbank scouts, the Nikkan Sports newspaper reported Friday.
Contreras finished the year 6-13 with a 4.92 ERA, but he did have 106 K’s in 131 innings. He seemed to fit well in the Rockies bullpen down the strectch. I believe the bullpen may be where he can extend his career even further.
