Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer discusses what the Cleveland Indians may want and need to do this winter to bring the franchise back into contention.
The Indians main chips to deal have some catches. Grady Sizemore would create interest but is currently recovering from elbow and groin surgery. Closer Kerry Wood might make sense to a contender, but that would depend on how much of the $10.5 million salary the Indians would need to eat.
The team does have a lot of starting pitching with eight possible candidates for 5 spots on the rotation. Another good item is the payroll will be down significantly from the $81 million of 2009.
