Derrick Goold of the St.Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that two of the key teams (Angels, Giants) that were originally thought to be in the running for Matt Holliday are already bowing out.

The Cardinals and other teams that are interested are taking their time, as is the case with Scott Boras and his willingness to wait with his clients as well. One of the dangers of moving too early in any deal is that the agent is mostly looking for that first offer in order to shop it around. Boras is the master of soliciting that first offer and teams usually give in at some point.’
