Tom Haudricourt wrote a piece for Baseball America explaining the big void the Milwaukee Brewers have in pitching prospects.
Some of the answers Tom has pointed out include bad drafting and player development, injuries, and a bit of bad timing. All of which led to a dearth of high-level pitching prospects, which was badly exposed in 2009 when the Brewers ranked next-to-last in the National League with a 4.83 team earned run average.
This is the main reason we are hearing the Brewers are actively involved in rumors surrounding free agent pitchers like John Lackey, Randy Wolf, Joel Pineiro, Doug Davis and others.
