As the season ended for the Phillies, 2 of their players are contemplating whether they may have played their last games for the NL champs.
Brett Myers, who has been a Phillie for his whole career (8 years) is expected to become a free agent during the 15-day filing period that began today. In 2009, Myers suffered a a torn labrum in his hip, which required surgery. Myers underwent the procedure in June and was placed on the disabled list. He made only 10 starts in 2009, going 4-3 with a 4.84 ERA. He has a 73-63 career record with a 4.40 ERA. If he can get healthy, he is a pitcher that can be quite versatile, either as a starter or reliver.
Scott Eyre, who had a great year with the Phillies (appearing in 42 games, posting a 1.50 ERA, with a 2-1 record) is considering retirement if the Phillies decline to bring him back.
We think the Phillies would like to have both players back for the right price, but Myers may be able to get some more money elsewhere. Read more about their outlook here.
