According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, there is lots of interest in Scott Boras’ clients beyond Matt Holliday.
The Cardinals are also considering Xavier Nady as a possibility if a deal for Holliday does not materialize. Nady missed the 2009 season after having Tommy John surgery to repair his ailing right elbow. Before his injury, he was coming into his own as an everyday player. He has a career .280 batting average with good power and is able to play different outfield positions as well as 1st base.
There was also mention of the Mets inquiring about Rick Ankiel. In 2009, Ankiel hit only 11 homers and drove in 28 runs after having 25 HR and 71 RBI in 2008. He’s only 30 and does possess a strong outfield arm.
