Jordan Bastian of MLB.com is reporting the Blue Jays have re-signed veteran shortstop John McDonald to a two-year contract worth $3 million on Wednesday.

McDonald would currently be the Jays starting shortstop if the season started tomorrow, as starting shortstop Marco Scutaro is a free agent. McDonald hit .258 with four home runs and 13 RBIs over 73 games in 2009, marking the fewest games he has appeared in since 2005. He is known for his tremendous defensive infield ability and has been a fan favorite in Toronto.
