33 year-old outfielder Andruw Jones has signed a one-year deal with the White Sox, marking one of the first big-name signings of the hot stove season.
The deal is worth a reported $500,000, with another $1 million in possible incentives. Jones batted just .214 this past season for the, hitting 17 home runs knocking in 43 runs in 82 games with the Rangers.
Jones, once one of baseball’s very best outfielders, has seen his offensive production fall off a cliff since 2006. He’s also a ten-time Gold Glove winner, but his defense is also just a shadow of what it once was. Jones is expected to be a backup outfielder for the White Sox.
